Day 5: Sharing hope from the pulpit to the street
On Sunday morning, we attended a church service on a military base, where I (Quincy) had the privilege of preaching the morning message. After the service, we spent time with over a dozen children from the community, taking them to an interactive art museum—exactly the kind of place I would have loved to visit as a kid! Later, we brought the whole busload to a popular restaurant for a celebration, handing out backpacks and giving them the chance to simply be kids.

Out of the 15 children we were with, most lived on the streets. It was remarkable to see their genuine joy and laughter, but during dinner, glimpses of the burdens they carry began to show. Some wrapped up their food to bring home to families who likely had nothing to eat, while others shared heartbreaking stories about their living conditions. We also learned that some of their friends weren’t allowed to join us because they were forced to sell flowers and trinkets on the street.

Day 6: Preparing Gifts with Purpose—Backpacks, Blessings, and the Love of Jesus

The team spent the day at the SCSF Center, preparing backpacks to be given to children at all seven sites we will be visiting. Each backpack was carefully packed based on the child's age and gender. It was a blessing to imagine the children who would receive them—their reactions, their excitement, and how they might feel about the visit and the activities we have planned.
Having the names of each child in advance made the process even more personal. It took the entire day to pack over 300 backpacks, but it was well worth the effort.
During a break, the team rehearsed songs and a skit that shares the love of God through music and action. We acted out the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with five loaves and two fish, bringing the message to life in a way that we hope will resonate with the children.
Every morning, our team begins the day with a devotional, centering ourselves on Jesus by reading Scripture and praying for each other and the people we are here to serve and learn from. It has been incredibly encouraging to see and hear how God is working in our hearts as a team while witnessing His presence in this beautiful country.
